Schroeder Adds to Lead at Summit League Championship

NEWTON, Kan. - Fort Wayne men's golfer Zach Schroder continues to lead the Summit League Championship after day two, carding a 36-hole score of 1-over-par 145. The Mastodons ended day two as a team in fourth place with a 621.
Hosted at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course, the par-72 course is being played at 6,733 yards. Denver and North Dakota State are tied for the team lead with a 608.
Competitors had to battle through winds gusting upwards of 50 mph during the round, as the lowest score of the day by anyone came in at 1-over-par 73.
Schroeder ended the day with three birdies to shoot a 3-over-par 75, extending his lead to two strokes over second place Tate Arends of South Dakota. Schroeder had a tough time on the front nine as he was 3-over-par. He would come back to finish at even par on the final nine holes of the round, carding two of his three birdies for the day.
The Mastodons are nine shots back of third place South Dakota entering the final day.
Callahan Elzey heads into the final round tied for seventh after shooting a 77 for the day and a two-day total of 151. Eric Brinker carded a pair of birdies in the round to finish with an 85 and sit in 34th place with a tournament total of 163. Also shooting an 85 for the day was Josh Keating as he is in 37th place with a 36-hole score of 166. Keating tied for the team lead with three birdies in the round. Zac Turi rounds out the scoring for the team in 39th place with a 92 on the day and a 169 for the week.
The final round of the Summit League Championship begins tomorrow, May 1, at 9 a.m. ET.
