Scouting the Mastodons (2-4-3, 0-0-0 Summit League)
The 'Dons are 2-4-3 as they come home to Fort Wayne, led by a balanced offensive attack, as five different Mastodons have scored this season. Lorah Pund and Haley Lydon have split time in goal, with Pund having the only shutout of the season.
Scouting the Cougars (0-7-1, 0-0-0 Western Athletic Conference)
Chicago State enters its matchup with the Mastodons 0-7-1, with its one tie coming against a team the 'Dons also played: Youngstown State. This was a 2-2 final line between the Cougars and Penguins, but Chicago State has since lost seven straight. The Cougars are led by Marissa Beale, who has three goals on the year. Audra Wisehart and Judith Sorribes have split time in goal this season, but Wisehart has played in five of the eight matches while Sorribes has only seen the field three times.
Forming New Rivalries
This is the first matchup between the Mastodons and Chicago State. Purdue Fort Wayne has had matches against other Chicagoland area schools, but has not faced off against the Cougars.
Hayner on the Defense
Senior Allyson Hayner picked up her first career Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honor on September 10 after a pair of matches against Horizon League foes. Hayner played all 200 minutes against Youngstown State and Detroit Mercy, in which the 'Dons took a 1-0 win and 1-1 draw respectively. She, along with the Mastodon defense, did not allow a shot in the final 37:48 of the match against the Titans, including both overtime periods.
Spreading the Ball Around
Five different Mastodons have scored a goal this season. Kendall Quinn, Kayla Wisniewski, Kailyn Wade, Chloee Foor and Deanna Hecht have all found the back of the net. Wisniewski, Quinn and Hecht lead all scorers with two goals each, while Foor and Wade have one each. Hannah Kroger leads the distribution with three assists on the year.
