Men’s Soccer Ranked No. 8 In Initial National RPI Rankings

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team is ranked No. 8 in the nation in the first RPI numbers released by the NCAA on Monday (Sept. 24).
RPI, or rating percentage index, is the NCAA's official computer ranking system.
The Mastodons are slotted between Virginia Tech and Notre Dame. Wake Forest is at the top of the RPI rankings.
The Mastodons own the fifth hardest strength of schedule in the nation with five opponents in the top 50 in RPI. The 'Dons have wins over 6-2 UTRGV and 6-3 Northern Kentucky as well as one-goal losses to 5-1-2 Bradley and 6-0-1 Wright State.
The 'Dons are third in the nation in goals per game (2.88) and total goals (23). The 18 assists the 'Dons have ranks 13th in the country. Romain Lopez has six assists, fifth best in the nation. Matthew Lieshout's seven goals ranks ninth in the country. Defensively, goalkeeper Tor Erik Larsen is fifth in the country with 44 saves.
