FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team is set to begin Summit League play on Friday (Sept. 28) with South Dakota State.

Scouting the Mastodons (3-4-3, 0-0-0 Summit League)
The Mastodons are coming off four straight matches without a loss, including two wins and two draws. The 'Dons' scoring is led by Kayla Wisniewski, who has five goals on the year. Hannah Kroger runs the midfield with four assists, and the goalkeeper duties are split by Haley Lydon and Lorah Pund.
Scouting the Jackrabbits (5-4-1, 0-0-0 Summit League)
The Jackrabbits are led by Karlee Manding and Leah Manuleleua, who have four and three goals respectively. Carina McLennan is their primary distributor with three assists on the year. Defensively, SDSU is rock solid, shutting out all of the teams in the Jacks' six non-losses. By the same token, the Jackrabbits have not scored in any of their non-wins.
When We Last Met
Last season, the Mastodons traveled to South Dakota State and the Jackrabbits protected their home field with a 2-0 win. Leah Manuleleua and Rachel Hewitt scored for the Jacks, and both return for the 2018 matchup.

Senior keeper Haley Lydon earned the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Sept. 24). She earned this honor behind an eight-save shutout against Chicago State. Her eight saves also moved her into seventh place in the program's career saves category.

Freshman Kayla Wisniewski ranks second in the Summit League in goals, goals per game, and shot accuracy. She is also third in total points and game-winning goals. Hannah Kroger comes in second in total assists and third in assists per game. Haley Lydon ranks fourth in the League saves per game.

In the Mastodons' match against Chicago State, the team recorded eight assists, which set the program record for assists in a single match. This was also good for 10th in the country in single-match assists this season.

Senior Paityn Fleming holds the record for the fastest goal scored in a Mastodon uniform. She scored in 28 seconds after the opening kick against Denver on October 27, 2017. Fleming surpassed former teammate Gaby Romo for the fastest goal, who scored in 34 seconds against IUPUI in 2016.
