Mastodons Drop Pink Out Match to North Dakota State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team celebrated its annual Pink Out game with a matchup against North Dakota State on Sunday (Sept. 30). The Bison took a 5-1 win over the Mastodons.
In its 12th season of Pink Out, Purdue Fort Wayne raised money to support the Vera Bradley Foundation in its fight against breast cancer.
NDSU took the lead first, scoring in the ninth minute off a header inside the box from a free kick. The Bison extended the lead to 2-0 with Mariah Haberle's goal from a right-side cross to the left half of the 18.
Breanna Buche scored her first goal of the year in the 32nd minute on blast from outside the 18, sent from Cesiley LaCourt and Kailyn Wade on the Mastodons' half of the field.
The Bison extended the lead with another goal in the first half and two more after the break. Haberle scored a brace on the afternoon, with Mallory Fenske tallying two assists.
The Mastodons, sporting pink jerseys with black numbers, placed four of their six shots on target for the afternoon. Lorah Pund started in goal, racking up seven saves in just over 59 minutes of play.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 3-6-3, 0-2-0 Summit League, while North Dakota State improves to 5-4-0, 2-0-0. The 'Dons are back in action on Friday (Oct. 5) with a trip to Omaha, Nebraska to face the Mavericks in their third Summit League match of the year.
