Holly Anderson Finishes Ninth at Shirley Spork EMU Invitational

YPSILANTI, Mich. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf's Holly Anderson picked up her fourth-career top-10 finish at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 1), taking ninth overall with a 72-74-78-224 at the Eagle Crest Golf Club.
Anderson and Laura Caetano both carded scores in the top-five in program history for 54-hole tournaments. Anderson dropped in two birdies on the day, with a four on the par-five fifth and a three on the par-four 11th. Caetano followed closely behind with a 75-73-78-226, finishing in a tie for 12th. She birdied 10 with a four.
Linnzie Richner earned 26th for the tournament, turning in a 78-74-79-231. She parred 11 holes in her last round. Emma Schroeder and Kennedy Brooker rounded out the Mastodons' scores with a pair of 241's. Schroeder carded a 82-78-81-241, while Brooker shot 78-77-86-241. Brooker birdied the par-four eighth hole.
Sarah Lewis played as an individual, shooting an 86-82-89-257 for a tie for 69th place.
Purdue Fort Wayne finished fifth as a team with a final score of 917, topping four Horizon League programs. The team's 917 is the second-best in program history, just five shots back of the record the Mastodons set in the opening week of this season. Host Eastern Michigan took the team crown with an 899 (+35). Michigan's Mikaela Schulz was the individual medalist, carding a 212 (-4).
The Mastodons are back in action when they host the Mastodon Fall Invite. The tournament will be held at Pine Valley Country Club and will begin on Monday, October 14 with a shotgun start set at 9 a.m.
