FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After the first day of the Mastodon Fall Invite (Monday, Oct. 14), Linnzie Richner finished in second place with 78-73-151. She had a birdie on each nine, paired with 24 pars for her +7 day.
Richner trails only Central Michigan's Claudio Salvador, who carded a 74-76-150. As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne finished the first day in fourth with a 323-312-635. In first is Green Bay, which accumulated a team score of 306-307-613.
Kennedy Brooker finished second for the 'Dons, using a pair of birdies on the second 18 to shoot 80-80-160 for a tie at 17th. Holly Anderson and Emma Schroeder tied for 20th. Anderson tunred in an 80-82-162 with a pair of birdie-threes on the front nine in the opening round. Schroeder had a 79-83-162, as she dropped a two on hole three in round one.
Sarah Lewis rounded out the team representatives, turning in an 87-83-170 for a tie for 34th. Luiza Caetano competed in her first tournament as a Mastodon, turning in a 103-87-190.
The Mastodons will vie for their home tournament trophy tomorrow (Oct. 15) with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. at Pine Valley Country Club.
