Women's Soccer Faces Off Against South Dakota For Pink Out

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne is at the Hefner Soccer Complex on Sunday (Oct. 13) for a matchup against the South Dakota Coyotes. Sunday's match with be their annual Pink Out game to support those diagnosed with breast cancer. The team is raising money for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

Scouting the Mastodons (4-6-2, 0-2-0 Summit League)
The Mastodons are 0-2 in conference play after falling at Western Illinois 2-0 and against North Dakota on Thursday (Oct. 10) 1-0. Lorah Pund totaled a career-high 13 saves against the Fighting Hawks. Kayla Wisniewski is ranked third in the Summit League for total shots with 32 and has tallied 19 shots on goal thus far. Kendall Quinn and Morgan Reitano are right behind Wisniewski in shots on goal with 10 and nine, respectively.
Scouting the Coyotes (5-8-0, 0-2-0 Summit League)
South Dakota is making their way to the Hefner Soccer Complex after a 2-1 loss against the North Dakota State Bison. South Dakota's Kellee Willer scored for the Coyotes at 34 minutes and was assisted by Tiannah Moore. South Dakota also faced off against the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota, but couldn't hold them off and lost 2-1. North Dakota was the first to score, but Alexis Mitchell came back in the 87th minute with a penalty kick goal for the Coyotes. The Fighting Hawks scored a minute later resulting in a loss for South Dakota.

Pund held Valparaiso scoreless in a 2-0 victory and most recently kept Detroit Mercy from scoring on September 15 with a 2-0 win. Pund has recorded 48 saves so far this season.

The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team received the United Soccer Coaches Academic Award for the 2018-2019 academic year. The Mastodons had a cumulative team GPA of 3.63. This is the eighth year in a row that women's soccer has received the Coaches Academic Award.

Purdue Fort Wayne will head out to North Dakota State on Friday (Oct. 18) and South Dakota State on Sunday (Oct. 20) for a pair of conference match ups. Kick off against North Dakota State will be at 7 p.m. and South Dakota State with be at 1 p.m.
