Mastodons Head to South Dakota State and South Dakota

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball is set for another pair of road contests this weekend at South Dakota State and league-leading South Dakota.

Scouting South Dakota State
South Dakota State is 5-13, 2-4 Summit League, having beaten North Dakota State and North Dakota. The Jackrabbits are led by Makenzie Hennen, who is averaging 3.38 kills per set this season, which is fifth in the League. SDSU is coming off a four-set win over North Dakota, but prior to that had lost 10 of 11. The Mastodons have swept the Jackrabbits the last four times the two teams have played.
Scouting South Dakota
South Dakota is the Summit League leader, currently sitting at 17-1, 6-0. Before welcoming the 'Dons, the Coyotes will play host to Western Illinois on Friday. USD libero Anne Rasmussen has claimed four of the seven available Summit League Defensive Player of the Week awards this season. Three different players have taken the Offensive Player of the Week honor back to Vermillion, South Dakota this season. Elizabeth Juhnke is leading the Summit League in overall kills per set at 3.99, while Rasmussen is second in the League in overall digs per set.
Sweeping Player of the Week Honors
Purdue Fort Wayne had a pair of Summit League Player of the Week recipients this past week. Katie Crowe earned the Offensive Player of the Week honor after averaging 4.13 kills per set. Rachael Crucis brought home a Defensive Player of the Week award after racking up 5.5 digs per set against Oral Roberts and Omaha. Crowe and Crucis led the 'Dons to a three-set win over the Golden Eagles and a five-set win over the Mavericks.
Dubba-Yoos
Purdue Fort Wayne is entering the weekend having won eight out of the last nine matches. This stretch includes three straight at the Cougar Classic and five Summit League wins.
Second in the League
The Mastodons are in second place in the Summit League standings through six matches. The 'Dons are 5-1 after beating North Dakota, Western Illinois, preseason-favorite Denver, Oral Roberts and Omaha. Purdue Fort Wayne's only loss of the Summit League season was a road test at North Dakota State.
At the Summit
In Summit League play, Katie Crowe ranks first in kills per set and points per set with 4.19 and 4.70 respectively. She has had double-digit kills for eight straight matches, including all six League contests.

Sydney Boerst currently ranks second in program history in career hitting percentage at .322. She is the leader in the rally scoring era (2001-present), and only trails Andi Reichart (.362) overall. She is hitting .342 this season.
Between a Block and a Hard Place
Sydney Boerst holds a 0.91 blocks per set average for her career, which ranks ninth in program history. In eighth is Dottie Porch, who averaged 0.92 blocks per set in her career from 1994-97.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne defeated Oral Roberts in three sets on Arnie Ball Court before heading to Omaha, topping the Mavericks in five sets in Nebraska. Katie Crowe and Rachael Crucis picked up Summit League Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively due to their accomplishments through the weekend.
