FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball head coach Niecee Nelson and her staff have announced the signing of four student-athletes to play for the Mastodons beginning in the fall of 2020: Margo Thompson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson), Zoe Ketterman (Geneva, Illinois/Rosary), Rylie Parker (Fort Wayne, Indiana/Homestead) and Aubrey Stupp (Farmersville, Ohio/Valley View).
"We are extremely proud of this signing class," Nelson said. " These student-athletes add size, strength, scoring ability and versatility to our roster. They are extremely focused in the classroom, exhibit characteristics of great teammates, and fit our culture.
Thompson, a 6-foot-3 forward, comes to Purdue Fort Wayne after being placed on the First Team All-District in 2017 and 2018. She was also an All-Cincinnati Second Team selection in those two seasons. In her high school career, she averaged 10 points and nine rebounds per game. Thompson played club ball with the Dayton Metro in 2017 and 2018 and the West Virginia Thunder in 2019. She placed in the top 10 at the Under Armour Nationals. Off the hardwood, Thompson has collected a slew of academic accolades. When she enrolls at Purdue Fort Wayne, she will already have earned a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Cincinnati. She earned her Associate's degree in liberal arts from Chatfield College as a sophomore in high school thanks to Ohio's College Credit Plus program. She was a member of the dean's list at Chatfield and Cincinnati, while also being a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, National Honor Society, and the Julia Chatfield Honor Society at Chatfield College.
"Margo adds valuable size to our roster," Nelson said. "She is mobile with the ability to score on the block and prioritizes rebounding."
Ketterman is a 6-foot-1 forward that earned four letters under Rosary High School head coach John Rutter. The Metro Suburban All-Conference Team selection totaled 611 points, 365 rebounds and 101 blocks in her career, leading the team in all three categories. Ketterman participated on the House of Speed and Illinois Rockets club teams for three years each. Off the court, Ketterman earned High Honor Roll, and was named to the Metro Suburban Academic All-Conference.
"Zoe is a versatile power forward with 3-point range," Nelson said. "She has a quick release and the ability to attack the rim."
Parker is 5-foot-6 guard that guided her team to the IHSAA state title in 2017 with a 61-54 win over Pike. In the 2018 regional, she was 6 for 7 from three with 24 points. She averaged 9.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 4.0 assists per game, while shooting 80 percent from the charity stripe. Parker led the Spartans to three conference titles, and a regional and semistate championship on the way to the state title in 2017. Away from basketball, she was also a member of a three-time state finalist golf team. Parker was a member of the Always 100 AAU team for seven years. In the classroom, Parker was selected to the National Honor Society, while garnering academic honors and technical honors at Homestead. Her sister Madisen is a junior basketball player at Bowling Green. Her father, Rod, was also a Mastodon, playing on the baseball team from 1990-91.
"Rylie is a proven winner who adds strength to our defense, has the ability to score, and leads by example," Nelson said. "She is a hometown product from a storied high school program with a long history of winning championships."
As a freshman, the 5-foot-11 Stupp was selected to the First Team All-District, First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Area. In her sophomore campaign, she earned a spot on the First Team All-Area, First Team All-District and Third Team All-Ohio. In 2018, she broke the Tri-County North High School single-game scoring record with 43 points in a game. As a junior, Stupp led the Spartans to sectional and district championships, en route to earning First Team All-Area and All-Southwest District Special Mention honors. She accumulated 1,208 points, 485 rebounds, 163 assists and 168 steals thus far in her career. Stupp played for three club teams: the Stateline Stingers (2015), the Dayton Flight (2016-17) and the Ohio Elite Purple (2018-19). Academically, Stupp was a member of the National Honor Society, and was a Rotary Honor Scholar.
"Aubrey is an all-around athlete with a scoring mentality," Nelson said. "She is a strong motion player who will contribute points to our stat sheets next season."
Thompson, Ketterman, Parker and Stupp will join Purdue Fort Wayne as new Mastodons for the 2020-21 season.
