MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Former Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball student-athlete John Konchar made his NBA debut on Saturday (November 9) evening.
Konchar, on a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, played seven minutes for the Grizzlies in their 138-122 loss to the Dallas Mavericks and did not record a stat.
NBA teams may have up to two players under two-way contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Konchar was put on the Grizzlies roster Saturday morning. On Friday night he made his G League debut. He recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals in the Memphis Hustle's 105-95 victory over the Texas Legends.
Konchar is the first student-athlete in program history to play in the NBA. He is the 19th former Summit League student-athlete to make the jump.
