PALM, CITY, Fla. - After the first day of the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate, the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team sits in eight place with a team score of 306.

Hosted by UNCG at the par-72, 6,802-yard Martin Downs Golf Club, Mercer holds a nine-shot lead with a team score of 4-under-par 284. Kristian Tannum Donaldson of VCU sits atop the individual leaderboard with an 18-hole score of 5-under-par 67.

The Mastodons lead Summit League rival South Dakota by one shot, and are 10 shots back of seventh place Boston College.

Zach Schroeder led the way for the Mastodons, shooting an even-par 72 to finish the day tied for 10th place. Two shots back in a tie for 19th is Eric Brinker. Callahan Elzey finished his day tied for 32nd place with a 76. Clark Tiller sits in a tie for 84th with an 84, while Parker Deakyne rounded out the team scoring with a 91 and is in 91st place.

Five golfers competed as individuals for the 'Dons. Leading the way with a 78 was Zac Turi in a tie for 56th place. Luke Miller is one stroke back in 61st place with a 79. Josh Keating is tied for 86th with an 86 and Cody White is in 89th place with an 88. Jake Kennedy rounds out the Mastodon golfers with a 97 to end the day in 92nd place.

The second round of the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate begins tomorrow, February 11, at 7:30 a.m.
