Schroeder Wins Wright State Invitational with Best 36-Hole Score in Program History

SPRINGBORO, Ohio - Thanks to a second round of one-under 69, Zach Schroeder was the medalist of the Wright State Invitational. He finished with a 67-69-136, one shot ahead of Jacob Poore of Northern Kentucky. His 36-hole score of 136 is the best in program history.
Schroeder started on the sixth hole, then had a birdie and two bogeys on the back nine for a 36. After making the turn, he had an eagle on his penultimate hole, the par-five fourth, to take the lead that he would hold. He had eight pars on the front nine to pair with his eagle. This is Schroeder's first tournament win since winning the Summit League Championship last season.
As a team, the 'Dons jumped two spots from yesterday, finishing tied for fifth with Indianapolis. Callahan Elzey came in second for the 'Dons with a weekend of 73-76-149, tying for 27th overall. Clark Tiller tied for 33rd by shooting 76-74-150, followed by Josh Keating who notched a 77-75-152 for a tie at 42nd place. Eric Brinker shot a 78-77-155 for a tie at 61st to round out the five taken scores for the Mastodons. Zac Turi carded an 83-75-158. He had three birdies in his second round.
Cody White played as an individual, notching an 80-75-155 to tie with Brinker and others for 61st place.
The Mastodons are off next week as they prepare for the Summit League Championship, which is April 28-30 in Newton, Kansas.
