Mastodons and Anderson Set Program Single-Season Scoring Records

NEWTON, Kan. - After shooting a 974 as a team at the Summit League Championship on Tuesday (April 23), the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team team finished the 2018-19 season with the best single-season scoring average in program history at 320.69.
With a three-day total of 241, sophomore Holly Anderson collected the best individual single-season scoring average in program history with a per round average of 78.04. This also gives her the best career average with a minimum of 25 rounds. She carded one birdie and 13 pars on her final day at the Championship for a 75.
Abigail Carlsen tied for 18th place while Anderson was one stroke back at 22nd, which were tied for the fourth-best and sixth-best finishes by Mastodons at the League Championship in the program's 11 seasons in the Summit League. Carlsen notched an 84 on the day to move to 240 for the tournament. She finished her career with an 83.00 average, which places her in seventh in program history for a career.
Linnzie Richner was tied for 29th in the tournament, shooting an 81 in round three for a final total of 246. She found birdies on holes three, nine and 14. Emma Schroeder was next for the Mastodons, notching an 85 today for 249 total, putting her in 36th place in the field. She birdied the par-five 10th hole, which is nicknamed "The Beast" by the course. Paige Bird rounded out the group in 45th with an 85 for a three-day total of 257. She birdied the par-four fourth hole. Bird finished her career with an average of 84.31, which places her 10th on the all-time program list.
Schroeder finished her freshman year by breaking the previous single-season record by a Mastodon freshman, but she will go into the record books at second place in that category, with an average of 81.73. Sarah Lewis did not compete this weekend, but she ended her first year in the program with an average of 80.57.
Denver won the Summit League Championship by 27 shots with a team score of 904. The Pioneers had the top two individuals, including Mary Weinstein who shot a Championship record (and Sand Creek Station Golf Course women's record) 65 (-7) on the final day. The Mastodons took seventh at the Championship, which is the second-best finish at the event in program history.
