FORT WAYNE, Ind. - John Konchar, the best player in Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball history, will sign a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has reported.
Konchar made the All-Summit League First Team all four years, was an eight-time Summit League Player of the Week, and recorded 47 career double-doubles. He notched the first ever triple-double in Summit League Tournament history with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against South Dakota in 2019. He finished as the program's leader in points (2,065) and rebounds (1,150) while adding 554 assists and 272 steals. He is the only player in the history of NCAA Division I men's basketball to reach the 2,000, 1,000, 500 and 200 plateaus in those stats. He is the only player since the 1992-93 season in NCAA Division I with two seasons of 450 points, 200 rebounds, 150 assists and 60 steals. His final two years as a Mastodon, Konchar was named to the CollegeInsider.com Lou Henson All-America Team.
Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players under "Two-Way Contracts." NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team.
