Men's Cross Country Earns Top Five Finish at BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country team finished the Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener at Bowling Green State University (Aug.30) with a top five finish by Sammy Moran.

Moran ran the 5K race with a time of 15:54.3 and landed the fifth spot.

Draven Thompson and Andrew Whitinger finished their first collegiate cross country meet in the top 20. Thompson took 14th with a time of 16:30.0 and Whitinger came in shortly behind him in 17th with a time of 16:35.8.

Robert Peck (21st, 16:40.7), Husam Saleh (22nd, 16:44.3), Carter Delworth (29th, 17:16.6), Austin Rockstroh (30th, 17:18.3), Michael Oliver (33rd, 17:31.2), Weston Miser (35th, 17:45.9), Conner Bayne (36th, 17:56.2), Cory Waldron (38th, 18:07.3) and Karter Tow (39th, 18:14.9) rounded out the meet for the Mastodons.

The 'Dons came in fourth with a score of 67 points, just behind third place Toledo (61). Buffalo won the meet with 25 points.

Purdue Fort Wayne returns with Rumble in the Fort hosted at Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, September 13 starting at 3 p.m.
