Women's Soccer Keeps Rolling In 2-0 Win Over Valpo

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne extended their unbeaten streak to five matches thanks to a 2-0 shutout of Valparaiso at the Hefner Soccer Complex on Friday (Sept. 13) evening. At 3-1-2, the Mastodons are off to their best start to a season through six matches in program history.
The Mastodons were on the board in the first 30 minutes of the contest thanks to a goal by Hannah Kroger at 26:55. She took a cross from Morgan Reitano for the goal. Reitano earned an assist on the play.
The home squad put the contest away in the 57th minute when Kayla Wisniewski headed a ball in the box for a goal. Kelsey Gallagher assisted on the goal. It was Wisniewski's first goal of the season and moved her into a tie for 10th all-time in program history in goals with nine.
Lorah Pund made four saves to earn the shutout. Her best save of the game came midway in the second half when she leaped high to make a one-handed save on a Valparaiso shot. She now has three shutouts on the season.
Purdue Fort Wayne has out-shot each of their six opponents this season. On defense the 'Dons have given up just one goal in the last four matches. The Mastodons have allowed fewer than six shots on goal in all six matches this season.
Valparaiso falls to 0-6-1. The Mastodons have now defeated Valparaiso in consecutive seasons for the first time program history.
The 'Dons will look to make it a perfect weekend when Detroit Mercy comes to the Hefner Soccer Complex on Sunday, September 15 at 1 p.m.
