'Dons Come Out On Top Against Panthers

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Thanks to a goal from Breanna Buche, Purdue Fort Wayne left Lakeside Field with a 1-0 win over Eastern Illinois. The win on Sunday (Sept. 8) pushed the Mastodons' unbeaten streak to four games.
Goalkeeper Lorah Pund was credited with her second career shutout (first of 2019) as she tallied four saves to keep the Panthers scoreless.
It wasn't until the 77th minute that Buche scored a header off Hannah Kroger's indirect free kick. It was both Buche's first goal and Kroger's first assist of the regular season.
When the clock hit 0:00, Kayla Wisniewski led the 'Dons with three shots on goal. Kelsey Gallagher had two shots on goal and Tahra Brodbine had one. Purdue Fort Wayne took seven shots on goal total while the Panthers took four. The Mastodons have yet to be out-shot by an opponent this season.
Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 2-1-2, while Eastern Illinois falls to 0-4-0. The 'Dons will return to Fort Wayne and host Valparaiso on Friday, September 13 at 7 p.m. It will be the first-ever Party At The Pitch with food trucks and food for students. Members of the 1999 men's soccer team will be recognized during halftime of the current men's team's game at 5 p.m. Student Activities Board and Student Government Association are co-sponsoring the event.
