Men's Track and Field Finishes Summit League Championship in Seventh

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team competed in their first Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships Presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare since 2003. The Mastodons finished seventh and North Dakota State won the overall team award with a score of 211.5.
Lane Hawkins competed in the high jump and ended in ninth place with a mark of 1.90m. Cain Hohne had a season-best mark of 1.90m and was right behind Hawkins in 10th place.
Four Mastodons competed in the mile run and Husam Saleh crossed the finish line in 4:25.14, earning 13th place. Sammy Moran was 15th (4:27.02), Robert Peck finished in 18th (4:30.83) and Elijah Inuwa rounded out for the 'Dons in 19th (4:32.95).
Andrew Whitinger ran the 5000m in a time of 15:28.19. Whitinger ended his first collegiate conference meet in 12th place.
Braxton Trittipo, Ben Marano, Brent Donaldson and Connor West finished first in their heat, fifth overall in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:23.62.
The Mastodons will take a three-week break before the outdoor track and field season begins on Friday (March 13) at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, S.C. Events will begin at 10 a.m. ET.
