As Purdue Fort Wayne prepares for its first year in the Horizon League, we wanted to give the fans a quick briefing of each sport in which the Mastodons will be competing for a League championship. Today, men's basketball.
Who: All 12 Horizon League schools sponsor men's basketball.

2019: Northern Kentucky

Championships by School: Butler 7, Xavier 6, Milwaukee 4, Detroit Mercy 3, Evansville 3, Northern Kentucky 3, Green Bay 2, UIC 2, Wright State 2, Oral Roberts 2, Valparaiso 2, Cleveland State 1, Dayton 1, Loyola 1, Northern Illinois 1, Oklahoma City 1.
How Is a Champion Determined?: While the 2021 championship format has yet to be announced, last season the Horizon League saw the top two seeds from regular season league play receive byes to the semifinals in Indianapolis. The remaining teams played at home sites to determine the two other teams which would advance to Indianapolis in the semifinals.
One (Errrr... Three) Memorable Mastodon Win(s): The Mastodons played Oakland in three consecutive games (Feb. 20, March 2 and March 10) in 2013. The 'Dons won all three games, including a 91-72 win in the Summit League Tournament.
Know Your Foes: The 'Dons have played each team in the Horizon League except for Green Bay and Robert Morris.
One Random Note: 49 Horizon League student-athletes have been drafted into the NBA.
And Now For Something Completely Different: The Horizon League features a few awards the Summit League did not hand out, most notably a Freshman of the Week award.
