Tyler Green Shoots Under Par in Final Round at Dayton Flyer Invitational

KETTERING, Ohio - On the final day of the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 19), Tyler Green of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team shot a 1-under 70 to lead the Mastodons.
Green finished the tournament in 23rd place at 77-775-70-222. His final round was highlighted by a back nine, in which he scored a 3-under 32. He birdied four holes: 11, 13, 14 and 18. He parred 11 holes, including seven on the front nine. Kasey Lilly was one shot ahead of Green for the week, as he turned in a 77-71-73-221. Lilly's final round saw him go 3-under in his last 12 holes, birdieing the 17th before parring five in a row. He birdied the back-to-back par-5's at five and six, the finished his round with two more pars. Lilly placed 20th.
Brett Seward had his best round of the week, firing a 72. His 226 for the week earned him 37th place. Seward started his day with two birdies on his first two holes, 10 and 12. Before making the turn, he birdied 17, a 352-yard par-4. He shot an even 36 on the front nine, with a birdie coming on the 389-yard par-4 fourth. Reece Compton had his last round of 75 taken for the team score on Tuesday. Compton got four birdies to fall on the front nine, finishing his day 2-under on the last seven holes (4-10). For the week, he tied for 53rd with teammate Burke Pitz with a 232. Pitz's last round saw him go on a tear of eight-straight holes of par or better from 18-7. He birdied the sixth hole. Hunter Mefford competed as an individual, shooting 77-81-72-230 to tie for 48th.
As a team, the Mastodons shot 312-296-290-898, improving in each round of play. They finished in eighth place, ahead of Dayton and Bradley. Wright State won the tournament with an 848, led by Bryce Haney, who earned medalist with a 4-under 209.
Purdue Fort Wayne will be back in action for its final tournament of the fall season on October 31, when they travel to Charleston, South Carolina for the Daniel Island Intercollegiate. That tournament will be hosted by Charleston Southern.
