Tyler Green Leads Mastodons on Halloween

CHARLESTON, S.C. - On a spooky day in South Carolina, Tyler Green led the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team with an opening day of 75-77-152 in the Daniel Island Intercollegiate.
Green's 75 on the first time through the Daniel Island Club came by way of a 1-under on the front nine. He turned in a pair of birdies on holes three and eight. In his second round, he birdied the fifth, highlighting his 77. He is in a tie for 65th.
Hunter Mefford shot 77-81-158 to take second on the team. He got birdies to fall on six, eight and 17 in his first round. In the afternoon, he birdied six again and got a putt to fall on 18 for another birdie.
Kasey Lilly carded 81-78-159 in his two rounds, turning in three birdies on the day. He got a birdie on hole one both times he played through the 428-yard par-4. He also birdied hole three, which played from 618 yards, the longest of the day.
Brett Seward turned in an 87-76-163. He was the only Mastodon to eagle a hole on Sunday, which came on the 538-yard par-5 sixth in the second round. It was one of just three eagles in the field. He also carded birdies on six and 18 in round one, and eight and 17 in round two.
Luke Miller shot 87-78-165. He got one birdie in the morning, the sixth hole, then improved in round two with three birdies. Those came on one, six and 10.
As a team, the Mastodons shot 320-309-629. They are in 20th in the 20-team field with 18 to play. Seton Hall is leading the pack at 12-under (564). Virginia's Pietro Bovari is leading the individual footrace at 7-under.
The final round of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate will begin on Monday morning.
