Hunter Mefford Shoots 73 as Fall Season Ends For Mastodons

CHARLESTON, S.C. - On Monday (Nov. 1), Hunter Mefford turned in the best round of the week for the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team with a 73 in the final round of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate.
Mefford's 73 put him at 231 for the week, tying for 69th. On Monday he recorded a bogey-free front nine, which included back-to-back birdies on six and seven. He birdied 10 and 18 on the back nine as well.
Tyler Green had the best week-long performance for the Mastodons, as he finished in a tie for 56th, with 77-81-73-227. Green had eight pars on the front nine and four on the back in round three. He also birdied the par-4 17th. Kasey Lilly improved as the week went on, shooting 81-78-76-235. He recorded 14 pars in his final round.
Brett Seward had his score taken on Monday, as he fired an 87-78-79-242. He got birdies to fall on holes three, six and 18. Luke Miller rounded out the Mastodon lineup with 87-78-81-246. He got a birdie to drop on the 14th hole, a 424-yard par-4.
As a team, the Mastodons finished 19th with a score of 320-309-303-932. Seton Hall won the tournament with a score of 858. Charleston's Nevill Ruiter won the individual medalist honor with a 4-under 212.
Purdue Fort Wayne's fall season is over. The spring schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
