FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball program has announced the additions of Deangelo Elisee (Nassau, Bahamas/North Florida Educational Institute/Triton College), Eric Mulder (Oskaloosa, Iowa/Pella Christian HS) and Chris Morgan (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna HS) for the 2022-23 season.
Elisee (6-9, F) joins the Mastodons as a junior college transfer from Triton College in River Grove, Illinois. He was named the Tournament MVP for the NJCAA Region 4 Tournament last season. In his freshman season at Triton, he averaged eight points, five rebounds and two blocks per game. Originally from the Bahamas, he graduated high school from the North Florida Educational Institute in Jacksonville, Florida. He was ranked a top-50 player in the state of Florida his senior year.
"We are ecstatic to get the bonus third year of eligibility for DeAngelo, who is a versatile big man from an incredibly successful junior college program," Purdue Fort Wayne head coach Jon Coffman said. "Deangleo will get three years of Division I basketball after playing two at the junior college level. He will bring size, college experience, mobility, shot blocking ability, great hands and touch around the rim combined with a winner's mentality."
Mulder (6-8, F) was First Team All-Conference and an IBCA All-Region selection as a junior at Pella Christian High School last season. He averaged 15 points and nine rebounds per game as a junior. He emerged this summer as a rising prospect with Kingdom Hoops. Mulder was also a First Team All-District football player this past season.
"How many 6-8 forwards return punts and kickoffs in high school football?" Coffman said. "Eric is a talented, versatile, mobile, athletic, skilled, forward/center who played his first AAU season this past summer. He developed so much from the beginning of the July recruiting period through the end of July. I can't wait to see how much he develops between now and reporting to campus next fall!"
Morgan (6-2, G) was Honorable Mention All-State and All-Conference last season at Kaukauna High School. He is also a 1,000 point scorer for Kaukauna.
"Chris is going to challenge the best of the best gym rats that we have had in our program," Coffman said. "He has tremendous skill--ball handling, passing and can really shoot it. He loves the game and loves working at his game! Chris is a phenomenal passer who is obsessed with making his teammates better around him. Like his brother (James Morgan) who plays quarterback in the NFL, he is a phenomenal quarterback on the basketball court."
The Mastodons are 1-0 on the 2021-22 season and host Austin Peay on Tuesday (Nov. 16) in a 7 p.m. tip at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
