FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer will head off to Ohio to face the Findlay Oilers on Wednesday (Feb. 17) at the Rossford Soccer Center Dome.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The 'Dons fell to Horizon League favorite Milwaukee 1-0 on February 10. Purdue Fort Wayne held the Panthers to only eight shots on goal, a week after the Panthers recorded 17 against Robert Morris. The Mastodons finished with six shots in the contest. Freshman Rylee Vrugginkand senior Eliese LaCourt led the way for the 'Dons with two shots and Kelsey Gallagher added one. Lorah Pund had seven saves. Seven 'Dons played in their first match as a Mastodon on Wednesday.
SCOUTING THE OILERS
This match will be Findlay's first for the season and will be a scrimmage. Last season the Oilers went 14-3-2 overall and 11-1-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and finished out the season falling 1-0 to Indianapolis at the NCAA DII Midwest Regional in Findlay, Ohio after advancing over Rockhurst on penalty kicks in the opening round. Sierra Peacock had 10 goals for the Oilers last season.
SERIES HISTORY
The last time the Oilers and Mastodons met was on August 30, 2000 at Findlay where the 'Dons took home a 3-2 victory. The win was the Mastodons' first victory in program history. Kristin Macdonald scored the winning goal for Purdue Fort Wayne off of a penalty kick in the 87th minute. The Mastodons took 11 shots with eight being on goal with Macdonald having three shots on goal.
WAKE UP LITTLE MASTODONS!
The 9 a.m. start is the earliest start for a match in program history. The last time the 'Dons started a contest before noon was an 11:30 a.m. start against North Dakota State on Sept. 30, 2018.
THE GREAT INDOORS
This will be the Mastodons' second straight game indoors. The 'Dons should get used to climate controlled surroundings as games at UIC and Robert Morris are also scheduled to be played indoors. The Mastodons' home games against Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky will also be indoors at the Plex South. Purdue Fort Wayne also has a road game at Oakland on the schedule that could be moved indoors as well.
THAT'S A BIG ROSTER!
This year's roster of 27 is the program's largest roster in program history. The 2020-21 roster has 11 freshmen, nine sophomores, two juniors and five seniors.
UP NEXT
On February 24, the Mastodons will return to Fort Wayne for their annual Pink Out match to benefit the Vera Bradley Foundation. Purdue Fort Wayne will go head-to-head against Cleveland State at Zollner Stadium at 5 p.m. For the first time ever it will be a Pink Out Week also featuring women's volleyball and women's basketball contests.
