Women's Soccer Drops Road Match 2-0 at UIC

LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team fell to UIC 2-0 at the Indoor Sports Center on Wednesday (March 10) afternoon.
The Flames were able to take the lead quickly at 1:04 as Louise Trapp shot the ball high into the net for the first goal of the match.
In the 16th minute Morgan Reitano took the first shot for Purdue Fort Wayne, but UIC's goalkeeper Lena Kurz was able to make the save. Eliese LaCourt tried to get the Mastodons on the board a minute later, but shot too far right. Lorah Pund made a pair of saves in the 29th minute to keep the UIC lead at one. The Flames would end up scoring one more time in the first half as Grace Setter's shot hit the back of the net at 31:59.
UIC rested on the 2-0 lead for the remainder of the match.
In the second half, the Mastodons took seven total shots with Zoe Greenhalge's being on goal in the 83rd minute. The Flames out shot the Mastodons 8-7 in the period and had three on goal.
Greenhalge finished the game with four shots, one on goal, and Reitano and LaCourt contributed two shots apiece. Pund earned six saves in 90 minutes.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 2-3 (1-3 Horizon League) and UIC improves record to 4-1 (4-1 Horizon League). The Mastodons will return to Fort Wayne and host Youngstown State on Wednesday (March 17).
