FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne fell to UIC 5-0 in a men's soccer Horizon League match on Thursday (March 18) afternoon played at a windy and rainy Warrior Field on Indiana Tech's campus.
The Flames were up 1-0 at halftime after a goal by Nkusuwila Zulu in the 23rd minute. He headed in a pass from Jose Perez Flores. Zulu scored again in the 51st minute on a penalty kick to put the Flames up 2-0. UIC would add goals in the 66th, 71st and 90th minutes to make the final 5-0.
Purdue Fort Wayne held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. The Flames finished with a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Luke Benford finished with three shots with one on goal for the 'Dons. Nemanja Gvozdic had two shots, both on goal.
The Mastodons fall to 2-5 (2-5 Horizon). UIC improves to 5-1-1 (5-1-1 Horizon). The 'Dons are back in action next Wednesday (March 24) at Northern Kentucky.
