Kasey Lilly Leads the Mastodons at the Benbow Invitational

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team shot a 316-319-635 at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club in the Benbow Invitational on Tuesday, March 9, which was good enough for seventh place.
Kasey Lilly birdied his opening hole, the par-4 11th hole, then dropped in three straight birdies on the front nine. He went 3-under from holes 1-5, getting two pars to sandwich his three straight birdies. He was even on the front nine. Lilly finished in a tie for seventh place with a 77-75-152.
Burke Pitz had 11 pars on the day to shoot 79-80-159 for 25th position. Eric Brinker shot 76-84-160 that earned 32nd place. He had nine pars and a birdie.
Reece Compton rounded out the team score with an 84-82-166 in his first collegiate tournament. He got a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole and paired it with eight pars. He tied for 46th.
Jacob Deakyne shot 88-82-170. He had pars on four of his first five holes, concluding with 10 on the day.
Parker Deakyne and Luke Miller competed as individuals, shooting 79-81-160 and 78-83-161, respectively.
Drexel was the overall team winner with a 300-285-585. The individual medalist was Drexel's Angelo Giantsopoulos with a 70-71-141.
Purdue Fort Wayne will play at one of Butler's other events next, visiting Highland Golf Club in Indianapolis on March 29-30.
