Mastodons Finish Fifth at Benbow Invitational

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team finished fifth at the Benbow Invitational on March 9 at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club with a team score of 335-329-664.
Laura Caetano recorded an 80-83-163, tying for 10th. She birdied the par-5 second hole for the second time this week, complementing her seven pars.
In her first tournament as a Mastodon, Anna Olafsdottir finished with an 82-82-164, which tied for 12th. In her second round, she had 11 pars. She birdied her third hole of the day, which was the par-3 ninth, which played at 175 yards.
Holly Anderson started her second round with five straight pars and a birdie. She finished the tournament with an 85-80-165 for 18th place. Emma Schroeder rounded out the team score with an 88-84-172 for 27th. She started her day with a pair of pars and finished with seven.
Linnzie Richner shot 94-87-181 for the week, with six pars in her second round for 33rd. Competing as an individual, Kennedy Brooker shot 86-81-167, finishing 21st overall and second among players not competing for the team score.
Southern Illinois was the team champion with 323-308-631. Evansville's Sophia Rohleder was the individual medalist, shooting 75-76-151.
The Mastodons have 13 days until they take the course again on March 22 at the Nevel Meade Collegiate. That tournament is hosted by fellow Horizon League member Cleveland State.
