'Dons in Third, Schroeder in Fifth Through 36 Holes at Nevel Meade Collegiate

PROSPECT, Ky. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team opened the Nevel Meade Collegiate on Monday, March 22 with a team score of 604, which put the Mastodons in third place with the final round coming tomorrow.
Purdue Fort Wayne finished day one ahead of five of the six other Horizon League schools in the field.
The Mastodons shot 298 as a team in the opening round, which tied for the best in the field through 18 holes. This also tied for the second-best 18-hole round in program history. The 604 two-round total third-best in program history through 36 holes.
Emma Schroeder started her day on hole No. 10 with 13 straight pars en route to a career-best 73. She concluded her first round with 15 pars and a birdie three on the par-4 ninth. In round two, Schroeder had a 74 for a two-round total of 147. She had a birdie on 17 to go with 14 pars. She finished the day in a tie for fifth place.
Laura Caetano had 11 pars and two birdies in her opening round for a 76. Her birdies came on holes seven and 16. She followed it up with another 76 in round for a total of 152 to tie for 11th place. She had 14 pars for her 3-over-par round.
Holly Anderson shot a 74 in the opening round with three birdies and 10 pars. She got back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17, then on the par-4 sixth. Anderson shot a 78 in the second round with 13 pars, including six-straight. She finished with a 152 for a tie at 11th place with Caetano at 152.
Anna Olafsdottir and Kennedy Brooker rounded out the team scores with a pair of 158s in a tie for 34th. Olafsdottir carded a 75 in round one with 13 pars and a birdie on hole six. She shot an even 36 on the front nine. In round two, Olafsdottir shot an 83 for a 158 two-round total. Brooker had 11 pars for an 80 in round one, then shot a 78 with a birdie on 12 and 10 pars.
Linnzie Richner (T26), Arny Dagsdottir (T42) and Luiza Caetano (T57) competed as individuals, shooting 78-77-157, 83-77-160 and 84-82-165 respectively.
Purdue Fort Wayne finished the day with 119 total pars, which led the field.
Youngstown State is the overall leader as a team with a 589 on day one. YSU's Danae Rugola was the individual leader through 36 holes with a 144.
The final 18 holes of the Nevel Meade Collegiate will start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
