'Dons Conclude #HLGolf Championships With Best Round of the Week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team concluded its first season in the Horizon League with its best round of the week with a 310 on Tuesday (April 27) at the Ackerman Allen Course at Purdue University.
For the week, the Mastodons finished eighth at the Horizon League Championship with a 944.
Holly Anderson was the best Mastodon in the final round. She shot a 75 to total 232 and finish in a tie for 16th. She chipped in for birdie on the par-5 sixth hole for her only birdie on the front. On the back nine, she had two in a row on 16 and 17.
Anderson improved upon her program-leading career scoring average in her last tournament of the season, which is now at 77.39.
After playing her best round of the championship, Kennedy Brooker shot a 76 to finish with a 326 in 24th. She birdied holes three and six, turning in 10 pars in addition. On the par-5 sixth, she placed her second shot on the front half of the green to set up a putt for eagle. She lagged her putt, leaving a two-footer for birdie. This set her up for an even front nine. Her 76 tied her career-best and was the best round of her junior season.
Emma Schroeder turned in a 78, matching her second round for a 240 for the week. She started her final round with four straight pars and a birdie. She finished the front with a 37. After making the turn, she birdied the par-4 10th. She did so by reaching the green in regulation and burying a mid-range putt. Her 240 set her up for a 34th-place finish.
After a tough opening hole, Laura Caetano bounced back with a birdie on the par-5 second hole. She carded an 83 with nine pars in her third round to total 242 for the week for 34th place. Anna Olafsdottir's 81 counted for the team score on Tuesday, recording 10 pars on the day. She finished in 36th.
The Mastodons finished the 2020-21 season with a 311.8 team scoring average, which is the best in program history. This tops last season's best mark of 312.7.
