Men's 4x400 Relay Team Earns Podium Spot on Final Day

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team claimed a place on the podium in the 4x400 meter relay during the third and final day of the 2021 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Youngstown State on Sunday (May 9).
The 4x400 meter relay squad, made up of Brent Donaldson, Connor West, Braxton Trittipo and Cory Waldron, clocked in a time of 3:23.28 and placed third overall for a spot on the podium.
As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne came in fourth place with 50.33 points. The 'Dons finished better than UIC, Detroit Mercy, IUPUI and Northern Kentucky. The Mastodons set school records 18 times during the 2021 outdoor season.
Weston Miser competed in the 800 meter run finals and recorded a time of 1:54.17, finishing in fourth place. Husam Saleh ran a time of 3:56.99 in the 1500 meter run and placed sixth. Kehinde Oladapo came in ninth with a time of 4:02.10. In the 5000 meter run, Draven Thompson led the way for the 'Dons in 17th place and a time of 15:20.97. Nicholas Mills took 18th (15:23.81), Nathan Mills came in 25th (15:35.62), Andrew Whitinger was 26th (15:35.84) and Camden Abernathy rounded out Purdue Fort Wayne in 38th (16:20.97).
Trittipo also ran in the 400 meter dash and clinched sixth place with a time of 50.44.
Lane Hawkins made his way to a height of 1.94m in the high jump and finished in fifth. Austin Dove finished in eighth (1.89m) and Cain Hohne came in 14th (1.84m). Luke Beehler jumped to a mark of 13.07m in the triple jump and took home 12th place.
The overall team winner was Youngstown State with 232 points.
