Kasey Lilly Shatters 18-Hole Record With 7-Under 64

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Thanks to a birdie and an eagle on his final two holes, Kasey Lilly of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team broke the program's 18-hole scoring record with a 7-under 64 on the final day of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 14).
Behind Lilly, Purdue Fort Wayne jumped five spots up the leaderboard with a final round score of 277. This ties the third-best team score in program history. The 277 was the second-best in the field of any round, second only to Marshall's 273. Purdue Fort Wayne had two of the field's five eagles, as the only team in the tournament with two of them. As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne finished fifth, jumping from 10th after yesterday's round.
Lilly's 64 was the single-best round in the tournament, and it came with a spectacular finish. After starting on hole 12, he birdied hole 10 and eagled 11 to conclude his day. He was bogey-free on the day with 12 pars, five birdies and an eagle. He birdied holes two, three, five, 10 and 15. Lilly finished the tournament in a tie for 12th with a 77-73-64-214.
Tyler Green was also under par in the third round with a 69. His round featured four birdies and an eagle, including a birdie-birdie-eagle stretch from hole 8-10. Green finished the tournament in 28th with 74-76-69-219.
An even par final round from Brett Seward started three birdies in his first five holes. He had back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15. He finished the week in a tie for 31st with an 80-69-71-220.
Hunter Mefford rounded out the team score with a 74-75-73-222, including four birdies in his last round. He turned in birdies on five, nine, 14 and 15 to move into a tie for 39th.
Luke Miller finished the tournament in 72nd with a 71-80-77-228. He carded 12 pars with a birdie on hole seven on Tuesday. Reece Compton played as an individual, turning in a 73-78-75-226 to tie for 66th.
The Mastodons will take the course again on Friday, September 17 in Muncie, Indiana at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational.
