Mastodon Women's Volleyball Defeats IUPUI 3-1

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball beat IUPUI 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 27-29, 25-23) on Saturday (Oct. 22) in the Gates Sports Center behind the arm of Molly Mirabelli.
Mirabelli had a team-high 15 kills with a .407 hitting percentage. Madelyn Wurster played in three of the four sets and had 11 kills with a .563 clip. Iris Riegel and Sidney Schiller joined them in double-figures with 11 kills each.
The Mastodons ran through sets one and two thanks to late runs. They had a 12-2 stretch to finish set one and an 8-1 run late in set two.
IUPUI had a late run of their own in set three, holding off three set points in the midst of a 9-2 push. They went on to win the set 29-27.
The Jaguars went up 8-4 in set four and did not trail until the 20-19 mark. Purdue Fort Wayne used a 5-0 run to go up 21-19, then found Schiller for a pair of kills and Mirabelli and Ramei Jackson for the final two points.
Rachael Crucis had a match-high 27 digs.
Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 7-15, 3-8 in Horizon League action. IUPUI falls to 9-14, 3-8. The Mastodons are at home next weekend to play Youngstown State and Robert Morris on Friday (Oct. 28) and Saturday (Oct. 29).
