Mastodons to Play For #HLWSOC Regular Season Title on Wednesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team has a chance to win its first Horizon League regular season championship on Wednesday (Oct. 26) with a game at Cleveland State. The Mastodons need a win on Wednesday and need Milwaukee to either tie or lose at Green Bay.

Cleveland State is 7-6-3 and 4-4-1 in Horizon League action. The Vikings are riding a two-game win streak coming into this game with wins over Youngstown State and Robert Morris. Kathryn Ramicone is leading the Vikings with six goals this season, which ranks third in the league. Mackenzie Evans and Kelsey Gallagher were named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team on October 25. Gallagher is the first player in program history to be named to two All-Academic teams. Evans has a 4.00 GPA in communication sciences and disorders and Gallagher has a 3.98 in elementary education.

Purdue Fort Wayne finished the regular season with an unbeaten record at the Hefner Soccer Complex, going 6-0-3 in front of its home crowd. The 'Dons beat Chicago State, Ball State, Southern Indiana, Robert Morris, Northern Kentucky and Green Bay, and tied Bellarmine, IUPUI and Milwaukee. It is the first time in program history that the Mastodons have had an unbeaten record at home in a season.

Gabrielle Fanning became the program's all-time starts leader at Wright State on October 9 and the all-time games played leader on October 22 at Detroit Mercy. She has 78 starts and 81 games played.
Brick Wall Castaneda
Samantha Castaneda owns a 1.05 career goals against average, which is the best in program history among those that played at least 750 minutes in the net. This beats out the second-best of 1.68 from Sam Pavlika (2012-14). Her mark of 0.71 GAA this season is the best for a year-long average, topping Pavlika's 1.07 in 2012. Castaneda's 11 shutouts in her career is also a program-best.
Bench Production
Purdue Fort Wayne's two leading goal-scorers, Mackenzie Evans and Gigi Ricciardi, have primarily been coming off the bench this season. Evans started in a three-game stretch in early September and Ricciardi made her only career start against Green Bay on October 16. Both Evans and Ricciardi have four goals this season.
