Purdue Fort Wayne WVB Welcomes Wright State and Northern Kentucky to Gates

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team will return to the Gates Sports Center on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 7-8) when they will play host to Wright State and Northern Kentucky.

• Wright State is 13-3 and a perfect 5-0 in the Horizon League. The Raiders have lost just one set to a league foe. Sam Ott is leading the team with 3.05 kills per set. Reigning Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year is averaging a league-high 5.48 digs per set.
• Northern Kentucky is 5-11, 3-2 Horizon League with a match at IUPUI before coming to Fort Wayne. The Norse beat Oakland, Cleveland State and Milwaukee to get off to a promising start to league play. Anna Brinkmann is averaging a team-high 2.93 kills per set.

• Wright State has a 14-10 record against the Mastodons and has won the last five matches. The 'Dons' last win came in 2012.

Purdue Fort Wayne will wear pink uniforms for Friday's match to support breast cancer awareness. This game is a part of Purdue Fort Wayne's Pink Out initiative, which is in its 16th year of supporting the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. The Mastodons will donate its collection to the Vera Bradley Foundation during the annual Pink Out women's basketball game on February 4.
Dynamic Defensive Duo
Rachael Crucis and LonDynn Betts had 26 and 20 digs, respectively, in the Mastodons' five-set win at IUPUI. This was the first time since 2018 that two Mastodons had 20 or more digs in a match.
Speaking of Duos...
In Horizon League action this season, Iris Riegel and Sidney Schiller have been a one-two punch on the pins. Schiller is averaging 3.42 kills per set and Riegel is right behind at 3.16.

Rachael Crucis is third in the league and 40th in the country with 4.71 digs per set.
