Sidney Schiller Records 20 Kills in Setback to Wright State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Sidney Schiller hit .462 with 20 kills on 39 swings in Purdue Fort Wayne's 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 loss to Wright State on Friday (Oct. 7) evening on the Arnie Ball Court at the Gates Sports Center.
It is Schiller's second 20-kill match of the season and her first in a three-set contest.
Schiller had only two errors on the night, and didn't record one in the first set. She also added nine digs in the match, just missing a double-double. Setter Taya Haffner recorded a double-double of 27 assists and 13 digs. Rachael Crucis totaled a match-high 14 digs.
A Haffner ace made it a two-point game in the first at 22-20. It stayed a two-point deficit until Wright State won 25-22 to take the first. Schiller had 10 kills in the first set alone.
Wright State went up 8-4 in the second set, forcing a Mastodon timeout. The Mastodons took the first timeout of the third set at 12-8. The 'Dons would advance to within three points in the third set, but get no closer.
Wright State out-hit the Mastodons .362 to .233. Taylor Bransfield had 15 kills for the Raiders.
Wright State stays undefeated in league play at 14-3 (6-0 Horizon League). The 'Dons fall to 5-12 (1-5 Horizon). The Mastodons host Northern Kentucky on Saturday (Oct. 8) with a 4 p.m. first serve.
