FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Khoi Thurmon (Akron, Ohio / Buchtel HS), CJ Hadnot (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek HS) and Jermaine Coleman (Indianapolis, Ind. / Park Tudor HS) have each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball program for the 2023-24 campaign.
"I'm ecstatic about our 2023 recruiting class," Mastodon head coach Jon Coffman said. "Our program has been built on gym rats that love to play and are obsessed with their player development coupled with versatile skill sets. All three can shoot it and pass it at a high level, were coached extremely well in both high school and AAU and are a great fit with how we play the game with pace and space."
Thurmon averaged 18.1 points, 4.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game in high school. He was an All-State Second Team pick in Ohio and named to the Beach Ball Classic All-Tournament Team.
"Khoi is an intense competitor who along with Jermaine joins us from the Indy Heat EYBL program that is based out of Fort Wayne. He makes those around him better, lives in the paint and can really, really pass the basketball! We are really excited about his ability to play in transition, create for others off ball screens and raise the intensity of those around him."
Hadnot was an All-Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Region 3 selection last season. He was also District MVP. He was named First Team NY2LA. He averaged 20.9 points 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists as a junior.
"CJ is another Atlanta native, like Jarred Godfrey and JoJo Peterson, who joins us from Houston, Texas where he has played his high school basketball. CJ has tremendous skill--ball handling and passing coupled with being an explosive scorer who can create his own shot off the dribble. We love his versatility and ability to play well both with the ball in his hands and off the ball. We are really excited about his ability to create for others off ball screens and in the open floor."
Coleman averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists as a junior. He was named a Junior Indiana All-Star.
"Jermaine was an AAU teammate of Khoi who also joins us from the Indy Heat EYBL program that is based out of Fort Wayne. We have had great Indiana players during my tenure, including Max, Mo, Bryson, Joe, Brent, Ra and more who bring the rabid Indiana love for the game to our program, and we are excited about Jermaine continuing this tradition of Mastodon greats from Indianapolis! Jermaine is a gym rat who is obsessed with his player development. He brings size and skill coupled with the ability to guard multiple positions. Most of all, Jermaine can really, really shoot the basketball, which has been a staple in our program."
The Mastodons have their 2022-23 home opener set for Saturday (Nov. 12) against SIUE. It will be a 1 p.m. tip at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
