Cameron Benford Sets Career Games Played Record in Win Over IUPUI

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Jarred Godfrey scored 21 points, Jalon Pipkins added 13 and Deonte Billups finished with 12 in Purdue Fort Wayne's 72-57 victory over IUPUI on Thursday (Feb. 10) evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
History was made in the contest when Cameron Benford entered the game with 17:26 left in the first half. It marked his 134th career game for the Mastodons, setting a new program record for games played. He passed John Konchar who played in 133 games.
Purdue Fort Wayne led 33-28 at the break. The 'Dons earned their first significant breathing room with back-to-back 3-pointers by Godfrey to go up 51-39 in the second half. It was the start of an 11-2 run that put the 'Dons up 56-41 and forced an IUPUI timeout. The Jaguars never seriously threatened the rest of the way.
B.J. Maxwell fouled out for the Jaguars but finished with a team-high 19 points for IUPUI.
The 'Dons scored 32 points off turnovers while adding 19 second chance points. Both teams shot 42 percent from the floor.
Godfrey scored his 21 points on a 5-of-8 performance from three. Pipkins totaled 13 points with seven rebounds.
The 'Dons move to 14-10 (9-6 Horizon League). The Jaguars fall to 2-20 (0-11 Horizon League). Purdue Fort Wayne hosts UIC on Saturday (Feb. 12). The Homecoming game will be played at the Gates Sports Center.
