Mastodons Defeat Northern Kentucky in Motor City Cup

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team picked up a second-round victory in the Motor City Cup on Sunday (Feb. 6), defeating Northern Kentucky 4-2 after dropping the morning match to Green Bay 5-1.

In the first round, Purdue Fort Wayne's win came from Laura Caetano in the No. 2 spot, who beat Isabelle Maleki 2&1. Caetano won six holes.

Green Bay's Ashley Kulka beat Anna Olafsdottir 4&3, Courtney Matschke topped Kennedy Brooker 5&3, Caylie Kotlowski beat Casey Bunner 4&3, Katie Warpinski beat Taylor Norman 7&5, and Grace Welch rounded out the lineup with a 4&3 win over Sarah Brenneman. Olafsdottir was even with Kulka for nine holes.

Against Northern Kentucky, Caetano won her matchup against Abby Cook 2-up. Olafsdottir got a 2&1 win over Delaney Welsh, Brooker beat Emmanuelle Hewson 4&3, and Norman defeated Gracie Baun 2&1. Brooker led her match for the entire round, while Norman completed a comeback from down two.

NKU's Regan Nolan and Hannah Hall beat Bunner and Brenneman 1-up and 4&3, respectively.

The Mastodons' final round of the Motor City Cup will take place on Monday morning (Feb. 7). They will match up with UIC, which is coming off a 6-0-0 win over Cleveland State.
