Know Your Foe
Bellarmine is 0-1-1 this season with a loss to Wright State and a tie with IUPUI. Alexa Orozco is the only goal-scorer for the Knights so far this season, with her goal coming in the 2-1 loss to the Raiders. Cambria Kingman has played the majority of minutes between the sticks for Bellarmine.
Series History
The all-time series between the Mastodons and Knights is tied 1-1-1. Bellarmine took the first game in 1999, the Mastodons won the next year, then the series took a 21-year hiatus. The two teams tied 1-1 in 2021. Gigi Ricciardi scored for the Mastodons in that contest.
Hello Old Friend
The Mastodons and Knights spent two years as conference foes in 1999 and 2000. The two programs were members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Both squads won one game against the other while together in the GLVC.
Brick Wall Castaneda
Samantha Castaneda owns a 1.32 career goals against average, which is the best in program history among those that played at least 750 minutes in the net. Her mark of 1.35 GAA in 2021 was the second-best for a season-long average to Sam Pavlika's 1.07 in 2012.
Mack to the Max!
Mackenzie Evans had two goals and an assist in the Mastodons' regular season opener against Chicago State. Her five points ties the ninth-most in a single game in program history.
She's Been Around
Gabrielle Fanning is in her sixth year of college soccer, playing her first season in 2017. With a redshirt campaign in 2018 and the extra year due to the blanket COVID-19 waiver, Fanning is the only student-athlete at Purdue Fort Wayne of any sport to be playing her sixth year with the Mastodons. She is also the only current student-athlete to play under the "Fort Wayne" athletics branding, thus the only to play in blue and white uniforms.
Be Aware!
In the newest rule changes from the NCAA, overtime will no longer be played in the regular season. Overtime will only be played in postseason games, and will no longer be golden goal, meaning both 10-minute overtime periods will be played to completion.
Last Time Out
The Mastodons picked up a 1-1 draw on the road at Mid-American Conference foe Toledo. Marisa Metzger scored the goal for the 'Dons in the 14th minute.
Coming Up
Purdue Fort Wayne will stay at home for a game against the Ball State Cardinals on September 1 at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
