Lilly Goes Low on First Day of Marshall Event

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf senior Kasey Lilly had the best day of the young season, shooting 71-67-138 in the opening two rounds of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational.
Lilly is in a tie for fourth place with his 4-under 138. Marshall's Tyler Jones is 6-under in first place. After an even first 18, Lilly turned on the heat for the second round of the day. After a double on his first hole, he rattled off 17-straight bogey-free holes, which included six birdies.
After a 2-under first round, Nick Holder finished day one with 69-72-141. He had eight birdies in the opening day of the second tournament of his collegiate career with six coming in his first 18 holes. Holder is tied for 12th.
Burke Pitz shot 74-70-144. In round one, he had eight pars on the front and two birdies on the back. Pitz had four birdies in his second round to move up to to 27th by the end of the day.
Hunter Mefford shot 73-75-148 for 55th place. He had back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine in round one, and birdied 17 in both rounds.
Jadden Ousley shot 74-75-149 to occupy 64th place. His first round featured 15 pars. In the afternoon, Ousley turned in birdies on six and 17 to go with 12 more pars.
Reece Compton competed as an individual, shooting 75-71-146.
As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne is tied for sixth with Dayton after a 287-284-571 two-round score. The 'Dons are five shots back of fourth-place Belmont, and just one of Butler.
The final round of Marshall's tournament will tee off in the morning on Tuesday (Sept. 13).
