Men's Golf Second Round Called Due to Darkness

CHESTERTON, Ind. - After the opening round of the Valpo Fall Invitational, Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf was in third. The second round of the tournament will be completed on Tuesday (Sept. 19) due to darkness.

Kasey Lilly opened his day with a 1-under 71. After his third hole, he was without a bogey the rest of the first round. He turned in birdies on one, nine and 11.

With five birdies on his first 18, Burke Pitz shot 73. He got birdies on one, three, six, 10 and 13 in round one. Three birdies and 11 pars gave Jadden Ousley a 73 in his first round. Hunter Mefford had four birdies in his first 18, three of which came in a five-hole span. Nick Holder shot an opening round of 78, making up for a bumpy start with two birdies on one and three.

Reece Compton's 75 was the best competing as individuals. Jacob Deakyne shot an 88.

Host Valparaiso is in the lead for the team trophy with 284. The 'Dons shot 291.

The final round of the Valpo Fall Invitational will start with tee times starting at 7 a.m. ET.
