'Dons Take Fourth at Valpo Fall Invitational

CHESTERTON, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team took fourth at the Valpo Fall Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 20) with a team score of 884.
In the Mastodons' lineup, there was no score take above a 76 in Valparaiso's event. Kasey Lilly led the way with a 71-76-72-219 to take 12th place. In his final round, the senior had birdies on one, four, nine and 17.
Burke Pitz was just one shot and spot back of Lilly, turning in 73-73-74-220. He had birdies on six, nine, 10 and 18. Jadden Ousley was another two strokes back with a 73-76-73-222. His 19th-place finish was highlighted by nothing worse than a bogey in his final round. He had birdies on one, two and 16 in round three.
Nick Holder shot 78-73-76-227 with birdies on one, three, seven, 10 and 17. He tied for 32nd. Hunter Mefford was three strokes back of Holder, finishing with 74-77-79-230. Mefford had a trio of birdies on one, two and 17.
Reece Compton tied for 62nd as an individual with a 75-80-77-232. Jacob Deakyne shot 88-91-83-262, also as an individual.
Valparaiso took the team title with a score of 848. The Mastodons topped all seven other Horizon League schools in the field.
Purdue Fort Wayne is back in action on October 3 at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, where Kasey Lilly will look to defend his title from 2021.
