Six Mastodon Women's Soccer Players Earn 2023 CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Six Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer players were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District on Tuesday (Nov. 21): Allison Adams, Madde Elliott, Mackenzie Evans, Lizzie Haub, Rylee Vruggink and Isabelle Wissel.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. To qualify, all nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Adams has a 3.62 GPA in the civil engineering program. This is her first CSC Academic All-District honor. She is a four-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll honoree. Adams started in all 19 games this season in the Mastodons' back line.
Elliott has a 3.90 GPA in her pursuit of a degree in elementary education. This is also her first CSC Academic All-District award. She is a six-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll award winner and played in 17 games this year for the 'Dons. She made two starts, scored one goal and had one assist.
Evans finished her undergraduate career with a 3.97 GPA and has a 3.88 GPA in her grad school program in communication sciences and disorders (CSD). This is her second CSC Academic All-District honor. She was a 2022 Horizon League All-Academic Team selection and is a seven-time Academic Honor Roll selection, six in the Horizon and one in the Summit. She started in 11 of the 18 games in which she played, scoring two goals and assisting on one.
Haub has a near-perfect 3.99 GPA in her pursuit of a mathematics degree. She was an Academic All-District selection a year ago and was since named to the 2023 Horizon League All-Academic Team. She is a four-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll recipient. She has started in 56 consecutive games over the last three seasons with the 'Dons.
Vruggink has a 3.96 GPA in secondary education and mathematics, setting her up for her second CSC Academic All-District honor. She was a Horizon League All-Academic Team Honorable Mention this year after playing in all 18 games as a senior. She scored two goals and distributed four assists.
Wissel finished her CSD undergraduate program with a 3.74 GPA and owns a 3.88 GPA in her graduate program. This is also her second CSC Academic All-District award. She is a six-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll recipient. She finished her career with 66 starts in 83 games played.
