Purdue Fort Wayne Women's Soccer Announces 2024 Signing Class

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer program will welcome nine newcomers to the team for 2024: Sam Christle, Audriana Rhyner, Mia Jackson, Madelyn Kopala, Maci Toporcer, Kyra Posey, Hailey Hoskins, Beth Loveless and Grace Cole.
"We are so fortunate to have a group of players with the class that these young women possess joining our program next year," Mastodon head coach Jason Burr said. "We have spoken to them about the responsibility we expect them to have with the team moving forward and they have embraced that challenge and are excited to meet it head on. They bring a wealth of experience and have achieved amazing things both individually and with their club and high school teams, that we know will have prepared them for their future with us. Their versatility is what we think makes them really unique and we can't wait to get them on campus to start have them working with all of the talented players we have returning in 2024."
Christle is a local 5-foot-10 goalkeeper from Leo-Cedarville. She set a school record of 42 career shutouts for Leo. Christle led the Lions to three sectional championships, along with two semi-state titles and two state runner-up finishes. During this run, Christle was awarded 2021 and 2023 All-Conference First Team, All-District First Team and All-State Team. She also earned a spot on the 2020 All-Conference Second Team. She played for Fort Wayne United FC for 10 years, winning two State Cup Championships. The club was also two-time State Cup runners-up and a Midwest Regional semifinalist.
Rhyner is a high-scoring forward from Centerville, Ohio. She scored 23 goals along with 14 assists in her 51 games played for Centerville. During her career, the Elks won three GWOC Championships (2021, 2022, 2023), two district championships (2021 and 2023), and were finalists at the semi-regional twice (2021 and 2023). Rhyner was awarded 2023 GWOC Athlete of the Year and 2021 All-Conference Honorable Mention. She played for Cincinnati United Premier Girls Academy. Rhyner won multiple State Cup Championships, the WAGS Championship, and the SUPERCOPA Invitational.
Jackson is a midfield/forward from Cincinnati, Ohio. She only played two seasons (2020 and 2021) for Ross before playing solely club ball. In her freshman season, she led the team in goals and total points, and led the league in assists during her sophomore season. During her two-year career, Jackson led the Rams to two Conference Championships and was awarded First Team All-Southwest Ohio Conference both seasons. She started club ball at Cincinnati Development Academy from 2019-20 before spending four years with Kings Hammer ECNL (2020-24). Jackson is a four-year Honor Roll student, with a 4.7 weighted GPA, and will have an Associate's degree before graduating high school.
Kopala is a defender from Libertyville, Illinois. During her time with Libertyville, she led the Wildcats to 2022 and 2023 NSC Conference Championships, regional championships, and sectional championships. In addition to an extended run in 2023, her squad won the Super Sectional Championship and placed third in the IHSA State Soccer Championship. Kopala was awarded Academic All-Conference, as well as being an Honor Roll Student and a member of the National Honor Society. She played club ball at FC1974 Libertyville (2014-22 and 2023-24) and Eclipse Select SC (2022-23). With these clubs she was a 2023 IHSA State Cup Finalist, 2022 USYS National Champion, 2021-22 USYS Midwest Regional Finalist, 2021-22 Division Champion and 2021 IL State Cup Champion. Kopala was also awarded Midwest Conference Best XI Team – Defender.
Toporcer is a midfielder/forward from Canfield, Ohio. During her time at Canfield, she scored a total of 93 goals and 41 assists, 52 of those goals coming in her senior season. Toporcer led the Cardinals to win four Conference Championships (2020-24), two District Championships (2023-24) and District Finalist (2020), and two-time Regional Finalist (2023-24). She was selected for two-time First Team All-Ohio (2022-23), 2022 All-Region Selection, two-time First Team All-District (2022-2023), two-time First Team All-Conference (2022-23), 2021 Second Team All-District, 2021 Second team All-Conference, and 2020 First Team All-County. Toporcer was awarded 2023 D2 District Player of the Year, 2022 AAC Conference Player of the Year, 2022 SVS Player of the Year, 2022 Team MVP and Team Offensive MVP. She also broke the single season goal record for Canfield during her senior season and the single season assist record for Canfield as a junior. She was a four-year High Honor Roll student and held a 4.0 GPA. Toporcer played club ball at TCSC for three years, Mahoning Valley Select for three years, FC Evolution for three years and Century United for one year.
Posey is an attacking midfielder from Fairfield, Ohio. During her time with Fairfield, she scored 23 goals and assisted on 17. In a district quarterfinal match, Posey scored two goals and added an assist to send the Indians to the semifinal match. In the first round of the OHSAA State tournament match, Posey scored the game winning goal. She has been awarded 2023 First Team GMC and 2023 First team All-Southwest Ohio, along with 2021 and 2022 Second Team GMC. Posey was also awarded Student Athlete of the Week and was an Honor Roll Student. She played club ball for Fairfield Optimist Soccer Club (FOSC) for eight years. Posey played in the National Pro League and in various elite showcases throughout the region.
Hoskins is a midfielder from Brownsburg, Indiana. She scored 21 goals and added 18 assists for the Bulldogs. Hoskins led Brownsburg to four sectional championships. During her career, she was awarded Academic All-State twice (2022-23). Hoskins was also awarded 2022 First Team All-State (ICGSA), two-time First Team All-District (2022-23), two-time First Team All-Conference (2022-23), two-time First Team All-County (2022-23), 2022 Second Team All-State (ISCA), 2021 All-County Honors, 2022 Hendricks County Player of the Year, and three-time Indy Star Player of the Week nominee. She was 2022 Brownsburg team Offensive MVP. Hoskins played club ball at Indiana Pro Academy ECNL & ECNLRL.
Loveless is a center midfielder from Kokomo, Indiana. She scored 30 goals and tacked on 47 assists in her career with Northwestern. Loveless helped the Lions to their best-ever record in 2023, finishing 15-3-1. The team finished as the 2023 Hoosier Conference runner-up. Loveless was named Hoosier All-Conference twice and First Team All-District during her 2022 and 2023 seasons. Loveless broke Northwestern's single-season assist record in 2022 season with 19, and then broke her own record again in the 2023 season with 20. Northwestern picked her as the 2022 and 2023 Top Team Player, along with 2022 Mental Attitude Award. She was Student Council Vice President at Northwestern and was awarded Academic All-State. Loveless played club ball at Kokomo Soccer Club for three years, Indiana Fire Juniors for three years and FC Pride for two years.
Cole is a 33-point scorer for Magnificat High School. The Westlake, Ohio native was a Greater Cleaveland Soccer Coaches Association award winner and honorable mention under head coach Johnny Kimani. She played club soccer for North FC for eight years, where she went to nationals twice and won once. In addition to soccer, Cole is a member of the Art Club, Asian-American Club and basketball team.
The nine-member class will join the Mastodons in the fall of 2024.
