Mastodons Fall at Top-Seed Oakland in #HLMSOC Semifinals 1-0

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team saw their 2023 season come to an end on Thursday (Nov. 9) afternoon in a 1-0 loss at top seed Oakland in the Horizon League Championship Semifinals.
It was the first time the Mastodons have ever advanced to the Horizon League Semifinals.
Max Collingwood was a key reason the fifth-seeded 'Dons went to halftime down just a goal. He saved a penalty kick and then made an impressive save far from the mouth of the goal in the first half.
Oakland's goal came in the 25th minute by Seth Owen on a strike from 20 yards out. It was assisted by Ville Ahola
Marco Valencia had two shots and Christian Leon had one shot for the 'Dons. The Mastodons had a 4-1 edge in corners and gave up only three shots on goal in the game.
The Golden Grizzlies improve to 8-8-2. The 'Dons finish the 2023 campaign 7-6-4. Oakland advances to Saturday's championship match.
