INDIANAPOLIS - For the second week in a row, Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball's Erin Woodson was selected as the Horizon League's Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Dec. 26).
In 19 minutes off the bench, Woodson scored 15 points on just five shots in a 77-43 win over Aquinas. The Richmond, Virginia native was 3-for-5 from the floor, 3-for-4 from 3-point range and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Woodson added three rebounds, three assists and two steals while committing just one turnover.
Woodson is one of two players in the league to earn Freshman of the Week twice, joining Carter McCray of Northern Kentucky. Purdue Fort Wayne is still the only Horizon League program to have two different players earn Freshman of the Week, as Renna Schwieterman picked up the honor on December 4.
Woodson is helping the Mastodons through their best 12-game start in program history. She and the 8-4 'Dons will be back in action on December 30 with a Horizon League game at Milwaukee. The 'Dons are 2-0 in the league and will seek their first 3-0 start to league play (not counting forfeits) since the 2009-10 season.
