Purdue Fort Wayne Goes Down to the Wire With #HLWBB Champs

GREEN BAY, Wis. - It was a one-possession game with under a minute to go, but the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team fell to the Horizon League regular season champion Green Bay 70-64 on Saturday (Feb. 25).
Purdue Fort Wayne has secured a home game for the Barbasol Horizon League Championship with the No. 6 seed. They will play against No. 11 seed Detroit Mercy on Tuesday (Feb. 28) at 7 p.m. in the Gates Sports Center. Tickets will be available here.
Ryin Ott and Aubrey Stupp had the best games of their season, scoring 18 and 14 points, respectively. In addition to Sylare Starks' three points, Ott and Stupp led the Mastodons' bench to out-score Green Bay's 35-12. Stupp was a team-best +9 when on the floor.
Amellia Bromenschenkel added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
It was a tight contest throughout on Saturday. Green Bay led by no more than 10 and Purdue Fort Wayne led by four. There were 10 lead changes and two ties. The Mastodons led for just over six minutes.
The Mastodons were 25-of-54 from the floor (46.3 percent) while Green Bay was 23-of-60 (38.3 percent).
The Mastodons fall to 12-18, 9-11 Horizon League. Green Bay improves to 25-4, 18-2.
