Noah Melendez Earns MIVA Player of the Week Honors

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball libero Noah Melendez was named the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 7).
Melendez led Purdue Fort Wayne to a 2-0 weekend at the DC Challenge, topping Mount Olive 3-0 and George Mason 3-2. The graduate student had 10 digs against the Trojans and 13 on the Patriots' home floor. He finished the week with a 2.88 digs per set clip. The graduate student from Carolina, Puerto Rico helped hold both foes under .300 hitting as a team.
This is Melendez' first MIVA Player of the Week award. He is the third Mastodon to earn MIVA Player of the Week, joining Emmanuel Jurineack and Jon Diedrich.
Melendez and the Mastodons will hit the road this week to play at Maryville (Wed., Feb. 8), Lindenwood (Fri., Feb. 10) and Quincy (Sat., Feb. 11).
